Sixth in Algarve for amateur men
SCOTLAND finished sixth in the European men's amateur team golf championship at Vilamoura Victoria Golf Club on Portugal's Algarve.
The Scots lost their last match 3.5-1.5 to Spain. It was a bad day for the Walker Cup team place contenders. Scotland's only winner was Hazlehead's David Law who had a 4 and 3 victory over Antonio Hortal. The half-point came from Banchory's James Byrne who halved with Scott Fernandez. Scottish champion Michael Stewart suffered a heavy defeat, 5 and 4, at the hands of Adrian Otaegui.
