Lafferty has thoughts on Rangers' future

RANGERS will be handed the Clydesdale Bank Premier League trophy on Sunday but Kyle Lafferty is already looking ahead to next season's presentation.

The silverware will stay at Ibrox for a second year after Rangers' final match of the season against Motherwell.

There remain questions about who else will remain at the club with manager Walter Smith's future still uncertain as he awaits the outcome of Andrew Ellis' planned takeover of the debt-ridden club.

Top goalscorer Kris Boyd has yet to reveal his plans after being offered a new deal, an honour not extended to other out-of-contract players such as DaMarcus Beasley.

Lafferty is desperate for the squad and management team to stay intact to ensure Rangers have the strength to challenge for a hat-trick of titles.

"I think we've got the heart, quality and determination to perhaps go on and do three in a row if everyone can stay together," Lafferty said.

"Things are a bit uncertain at the moment and it would be a massive loss if any of the players left.

"The main signature we need is that of the gaffer and, if we get that, we'll have retained the heart and soul of this club and that would go a long way."
