Kelburne qualify after win over Wien

HOCKEY: Glynhill Kelburne qualified for the knock-out stages of the Euroleague after defeating Austrian side AHTC Wien 3-1 in East Grinstead – and then seeing Wien thrashed 12-1 by group favourites Rot-Weiss Koln.

Looking to finish second in the three-team pool, the Scottish champions had a nightmare start, going behind in only four minutes when gifting a goal to Adam Amtmanski, before Willie Marshall notched a classy equaliser.

Within five minutes of the restart Kelburne took the lead, Alan Forsyth connecting with a Michael Christie cross.

The Kelburne goal lived dangerously in a tense closing quarter before Jonny Christie completed good work by Michael Bremner to make it 3-1.
