Golf: Baberton on fire as Lothians fend off fightback to hammer Angus

A STRONG Lothians side stormed to a convincing 11…-3… win over Angus in a friendly at Baberton, where two host club members as well as its secretary lined up for the home team.

The members, Scott Carmichael and Paul Ferrier, joined forces in the morning to deliver one of four foursomes wins for Lothians, with the secretary, Keith Nicholson, playing his part in that strong showing, too, in tandem with Keith Reilly.

Leading 4…-… going into the afternoon singles, Lothians lost the top three matches as the visitors mounted a fightback. In a rematch of the 2007 Scottish Boys' Championship final, William Bremner gained on Ferrier while David Miller and Mark Timmins lost to Campbell Donaldson and Andrew Weir respectively.
