STAN GETZ-JOÃO GILBERTO
Getz/Gilberto #2

The jazz bossa nova craze was sweeping the country when this Carnegie Hall concert was recorded in October 1964. It features two distinct sets: the two sides of the jazz bossa nova fusion (a set by Stan Getz's quartet, with Gary Burton on vibes) and a set by guitarist and vocalist João Gilberto. How much you enjoy the Getz half will depend on your fondness for the vibraphone, which is pretty dominant. The Gilberto half is much more laid back and in keeping with the cool jazz bossa nova vibe.
