NIGHTMARES ON WAX
Thought So…

Warp warpcd159, £11.99

Seasoned dance music innovator George Evelyn has been fusing electro, hip-hop, dub reggae and the rest for the best part of two decades, so he can be forgiven if his eighth album appears more about consolidation than any discernible progression.

That said, 'Be There' is one of those lovely fluid, mellow reggae tunes he does so well, like a long soak in sonic bath salts, while 'Hear In Colour' seems to beam in from a throbbing space age electro club. '195lbs' is a heavy clodhopper, surprisingly light on its feet, with the most chilled-out toasting you could wish to hear.
