The MacCalmans singer and mandolin, whistle and moothie player has written eight out of a dozen songs on his latest solo album – and they're all about lurve and women: lost, found, joyfully remembered, regretted or missed. He paints the emotional life of the musician in lyrics full of endless possibility and loneliness – with not-infrequent visits to 'Hangover Street'. A handsomely produced foldout sleeve, fine backing musos from Denmark and Scotland and even a medley of Lennon/McCartney numbers make this his most absorbing album to date.
