Students join HIV campaign

STUDENTS joined forces with politicians and members of the public outside the Scottish Parliament to support a campaign for no babies to be born with HIV by 2015.

The demonstration took place on World Aids Day on Wednesday. In 2005 G8 leaders met in Gleneagles and pledged to deliver universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support by 2010.

With this target being missed, Edinburgh Student Stop Aids campaigners met with MSPs to ensure this promise is not forgotten.

Lotti Rutter, coordinator of the Student Stop Aids campaign, said: "We ask the Scottish Government to support the UK to give their fair share to the fund."
