Hospice fun run day gives chance to put one past legendary Hearts goalie

A GUEST appearance from a legendary Hearts goalkeeper is promised in Victoria Park tomorrow at the St Columba's Hospice fun run.

The day features a 1km run for children and 2.5km and 5km races for adults. Runners are encouraged to complete the course any way they like, whether hopping, skipping, jogging or running backwards. There will be a prize for the best fancy dress. The day will also offer the chance to take a penalty against the Hearts goalkeeper - whose identity is being kept a secret until the event itself.

There will also be fire engines, face painting and a bouncy castle.

Senior fundraising manager Mairi Rosko said: "We had a great turnout last year, but we're hoping for even more entrants this time around to make this our most successful Fun Run yet. Our Fun Run is a great way to have fun, be active and raise money for charity all at the same time."

Race registration opens at 9.30am with the 1km race held at 10.30am and the 5km race at 11.15am. Entry for the under-13s 1km race is 3 and for the 5km race the fee is 8/5. Participants are also asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of 20 to help the hospice care for terminally-ill patients and families.
