Edinburgh College principal to retire
The principal of Edinburgh College of Art has announced his retirement.
Professor Ian Howard will leave the college ahead of its merger with Edinburgh University.
The merger was last month approved by Education Secretary Michael Russell and will take effect on August 1, if it gets final ratification from the Scottish Parliament.

Hide AdIn an e-mail detailing his decision to step down from his position, Prof Howard said: "Now that we are at the brink of a merger with the University of Edinburgh, I feel there should be an orderly and planned transition through which a new principal can take the college forward into a bright future which will provide more opportunities for our students and staff while preserving the best of what we have offered."
