200 hours' service for punch

A MAN who punched his victim on a night out and left him lying on the street was ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service.

Peter Haugen had to have part of his skull removed to have an internal bleed drained after Jordan McMillan, 18, punched him and he fell to the ground.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday heard an argument broke out between the pair at the city's Rose Street on November 1 last year. Fiscal depute John Kirk said Mr Haugen pushed McMillan and he responded by punching him.

The court heard he had a CT scan which showed he had an extradural bleed and hemorrhage. He had to have an operation which involved removing a section of bone. Defence agent Dave Allan told Sheriff Alistair Noble Mr Haugen had been very drunk and asking McMillan to fight.
