DSL reports rise in requests for loans

NOT-FOR-PROFIT lender DSL Business Finance yesterday revealed applications for cash rose from £2.7 million in 2008 to £2.8m in 2009.

Under the UK government's Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme, Glasgow-based DSL can offer loans of up to 30,000 to small firms even if they have no security, are not considered credit worthy or have been turned down by the bank for a loan.

DSL – formerly Developing Strathclyde Limited – said that in 2007, before the banking crisis, the organisation only received applications for a total of 916,000.
